Congratulations to five students who participated in the Southwest Iowa Music Teachers Association District Auditions in Council Bluffs on Saturday, 21 January 2023

Maria Fix performed at Level E.

Braydon Fujan performed at Level D and earned First Place in Performance and Honor Roll (90% or higher) on the Theory Exam.

Ash Lau performed at Level C and earned Alternate Winner in Performance and Honor Roll (90% or higher) on the Theory Exam. 

Henry Conroy performed at Level B and earned Honorable Mention in Performance and Honor Roll (90% or higher) on the Theory Exam. 

Paul Stevens performed at Level A and earned Honorable Mention  in Performance and Honor Roll (90% or higher) on the Theory Exam.

Trick for Major Keys with SHARPS: Last sharp up a half step is the key

Trick for Major Keys with FLATS: Second to last (aka as second from the right) IS the key

One flat is F major

Zero sharps and flats is C major

If you know the major key, find the relative minor by going down three half steps, e.g. G major and E minor

Please note there are no Answer Keys, so after you take the test, bring it to your lesson and we'll go over it together.

Remember, if you have difficulty with some sections, take the Google Quiz I have created to help you study that topic. And if you don't see the topic and Theory Level you need, let me know and I'll put that on my priority list. ☺

Trying the One-Minute Club "quizzes" may help as well. I don't have those sorted for IMTA Levels, but you can try several different levels of NFMC (Federation) levels.
