Peter Schickele Memorial Tribute

Sunday, January 21, 2024 | Uncategorized

Sadly, Peter Schickele died earlier this month. He was best known for his "discovery" of P.D.Q. Bach, the 21st child of J.S. Bach's 20 children.

Schickele was born in Iowa to immigrant parents. While in school, he studied composition in Fargo, North Dakota, under Sigvald Thompson of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, then earned a music degree from Swarthmore College and a master’s from the Juilliard School.

Schickele spent time in the 1960s and early 1970s composing music for such folk musicians as Joan Baez as well as scoring music for the science fiction cult classic “Silent Running.”

Policy Reminder re Weather

Monday, January 8, 2024 | Uncategorized

When the weather is such that roads are slippery and “travel is not recommended,” you may choose to not attend your lesson in person. Music lessons are not worth risking your life. If you call, text, or email me in advance of the lesson to inform me you will not be attending, I will make every effort to make up that lesson on one of the Make-up Lessons Days. If you do NOT call me in advance, I cannot guarantee that the missed lesson will be made up at a later time.

If you are unable to attend a lesson due to weather, illness, or transportation difficulties, we could do a Zoom lesson online. Please send a text or email to let me know that well in advance of the scheduled lesson time. (Note: online lesson time may be adjusted to allow in-person students access to the computer in the studio.)
