Great Weekend for Schoen Music Studio

Monday, December 9, 2019 | Performances

Seven students played at the Heritage League Holiday of Trees and did a fantastic job. Thank you to:

Zander Ferguson
Ethan Hunt
Theo Liebgott-Osinga
Kaelyn Murtaugh
Kamryn Plock
Noah Stevens
Samuel Stevens

for sharing your music to support Lincoln Music Teachers Music Association (LMTA) Music Outreach Program (MOP). I have not yet heard how much MOP will receive from the ticket sales. Everyone played very well and focused on their playing, even when Santa burst into the room and gave a loud, “Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas!”

Congratulations to the six students who competed in the Southwest Iowa District Piano Auditions!

Dawson Dynek
Zander Ferguson
Maria Fix
Braydon Fujan
Ethan Hunt
Ethan Riegsecker

Dawson and Maria were declared Winners in their respective levels!

Braydon earned First Alternate in his performance level!

Ethan R earned Honorable Mention in his performance level!

Braydon, Maria, and Ethan R scored 90% or higher on the theory test, placing them on the Theory Honor Roll!

Dawson and Zander had never done this whole event before this year!

Ethan H also had never done the whole event before, and chose to not take the theory test, as it is optional for the earliest level!

I am so very proud of all of you for working so hard to prepare for the Holiday of Trees and the Iowa District Auditions!

Nebraska Summer Music Olympics

Saturday, July 20, 2019 | Performances

Anna, Ethan and Kamryn played two One Piano, Six Hands (1P, 6H) pieces for the Nebraska Summer Music Olympics on Saturday, 20 July 2019 at the UNO Strauss Performing Arts Center in Omaha.

This annual event has occurred since 1981 and I had never entered students until this year. Categories include both solos and ensembles, with one piece from the required list, and one choice piece. Solos must be memorized and ensembles play from the written score. Entries may either register for a competitive event or non-competitive event. Non-competitive performers may also be awarded a Certificate of Distinction, if the judge considers the performance outstanding.

Pictured are (from left) Kamryn, Anna and Ethan with the trophies they were awarded for the 1P, 6H non-competitive event. They also received a Certificate of Distinction.  Congratulations!
