At your first lessons this fall, I’d like to have you develop three goals for this year. This could be a particular piece you’d like to learn, or a certain style or technique you’d like to explore, or to get a superior (90% or higher) score on your Festival Theory Test in the spring, or to get your Festival pieces memorized by February, or to enter an additional performance category for the spring Festival, or do an additional recital performance like the Festival of Trees in early December, or something else I haven’t thought of.
So please give this some thought before your next lesson this fall. We will work on developing these goals together and then we will work together on helping you achieve them! ☺

Congratulations to Zander Ferguson, Braydon Fujan, and Cora Hoeft!
They each worked hard this summer to create an original composition and are eligible to enter it into the MTNA Nebraska Composition Competition. The studio deadline is Sunday, 12 September. Entries are done entirely online, which I will do for you.
Also Congratulations to Alexa Lemke, Lauren Lemke, Will Moreland, Kaelyn Murtaugh and Ethan Riegsecker who created compositions during the past year and may wish to enter those compositions into the MTNA Nebraska Composition Competition.
This is a statewide competition. If you win at the state level, you will receive a cash award and your composition is forwarded to be judged at the regional level. If you win at the regional level, your piece is forwarded to be judged at the national level. If you place at the national level, there is a larger cash award, from $300 up to $2,000!
Entry fees are as follows:
Elementary:
* Age: 5–10 as of 1 January 2022
* Entry Fee: $50
Junior:
* Age: 11–14 as of 1 January 2022
* Entry Fee: $70
Senior:

If you are interested in entering this event, please register on the Student Portal Calendar for the event on 12 September. (Be sure to register by Midnight, 11 September.) When you register, please make a note of the title of your composition, so I make sure to enter the correct piece. Please pay the entry fee directly to me. If you prefer to pay online, please add a $5.00 convenience fee. (Students who wrote a piece during 2021 Composition Camp get $20 off their entry fee.)
